Slow it down without changing the pitch, loop the part you are working on, and find tracks by key. 500+ songs by Purrple Cat, free to use with credit (CC BY 4.0).
Slowing down keeps the pitch. Press Set A and Set B while the track plays to loop that part. Keys and BPM are estimated by software from the audio. They are right most of the time, but check them by ear before you rely on them. Tracks may also sit a little sharp or flat of standard tuning.
Tonight’s set lists
Six sets for six moods
Each set is a short running order of 16 tracks, about 40 minutes, picked from the audio itself.
Every track has an estimated key. Pick a segment on the wheel to see the tracks in that key. Outer ring: major. Inner ring: minor. The deeper the amber, the more tracks.
Tracks sit next to each other on the wheel if their keys share most notes, so neighbours make an easy change when you want something new.

Start with a calm set, or pick a key you like. The amp shows the key, tempo and feel.

Questions
Good to know
What is Calm Jam?
A library of calm instrumental tracks to play along with. Every track shows an estimated key and tempo, and the amp lets you slow a track down without changing its pitch and loop any section.
Is it free?
Yes. All the music is by Purrple Cat under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). Stream it, download the MP3s, and use it with credit.
Can I post a video of me playing along?
Yes. You can use the tracks in videos and livestreams on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch and other social platforms with credit. Put “Music by Purrple Cat” and a link to the licence in the description.
How accurate are the keys and BPM?
They are software estimates. Most are right, some are a relative key away (for example A minor shown as C major) and some tracks change key. Treat them as a starting point and confirm by ear. Tracks where the software was unsure show no key.
Does slowing a track down change the pitch?
No. The speed control uses your browser’s pitch-preserving playback, so the track gets slower but stays in the same key. Very slow speeds can sound a bit watery.
Why does the A–B loop need a moment to start?
The first time you set a loop point, the player loads the whole track into memory so it can jump back exactly. It takes a second or two.
